The Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, don call on the federal government to hire plenty contractors to handle the Calabar-Lagos highway project for quick completion.
The Obong of Calabar Executive Forum (OCEF), wey be advisory and executive arm of the Palace of the Obong, address media conference on behalf of the Obong.
Dem call on the federal government to start the construction of the Calabar-Lagos highway simultaneously, say this go reduce the project delivery time.
According to the Forum, if plenty contractors start the job at the same time, e go help reduce risks wey dey come with inflation.
The forum advise the federal government to engage many engineers and competent road construction contractors for the project.
“If the project start from the Lagos and Calabar axis simultaneously and dem award am to several competent contractors, with close supervision and monitoring by the minister of works and his team, the project go fit complete during Tinubu administration.”
Dem commend the Tinubu administration, describe the project as the single largest-ever infrastructure development for Nigeria.
According to Chairman of the OCEF, Gershom Henshaw, MFR, the coastal highway na strategic national infrastructure wey go transform the economic landscape of the nine states wey the road project go pass through.
Dem also remind the government to complete the Adiabo bridge wey the late General Sani Abacha’s government start to connect the state up to Akwa Ibom State, say the project don reach over 70 percent completion and no suppose forget am.
Dem also remind the government about the East-West road, say the road go massively impact South-South and Southeastern states.
